Clancee Synco

Company Dancer

Clancee Synco, a dancer and choreographer from Birmingham, AL, brings a rich blend of Southern roots and a deep connection to African American dance studies to her work. She graduated from The Ohio State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, with a minor in African & African American Studies.

 

Clancee’s early dance training was shaped by her time at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, training under notable professionals Wes Chapman and Teri Weksler. Notable performances include Flock by Bebe Miller (2022), No Mano Cry by Momar Ndiaye (2019), and Battlefield by Robert Battle staged by Elisa Clarke (2018). She has also worked with Germaul Barnes performing Sweet Tea (2018) and Distinct Destiny with an Open Fist (2017). As a choreographer, Clancee’s works include Weight of Tradition

(2024) and Dancing Between Redlines (2023), drawing from modern, contemporary, and African styles to explore themes of tradition and social change.

 

Beyond the studio, Clancee has contributed to the wider dance community through her work as a Programs Department Intern for the International Association of Blacks in Dance. She also worked as a Research Assistant to the Archiving Black Dance Project at Ohio State University.

 

Clancee previously performed with Xclaim Dance Company (2023-24) in Columbus Ohio and looks forward to her first season with Cultivate Dance Project!
